80 Years of Craftsmanship: The DEBI Awards & Justin Alexander

In 2026, Justin Alexander is celebrating 80 years in bridal. It is a milestone that invites us to look back, not only at where we began, but at the values that have carried the brand forward.

One of the most meaningful ways to do that is through the DEBI Awards.

The DEBI Awards aren't just a collection of accolades. They're a record of the qualities that have defined Justin Alexander for decades: craftsmanship, design, innovation, and a commitment to creating exceptional bridal fashion.

A Legacy Built on Craftsmanship

Before the Justin Alexander name became synonymous with wedding dresses, the company began as T&G Bridal in Brooklyn, New York, in 1946, with a focus on bridal accessories and headpieces.

That early emphasis on detail is reflected in one of the brand's earliest chapters of recognition. T&G Bridal received seven DEBI Awards for Manufacturer of the Year – Headpieces, including wins in 1989, 1990, and from 1992 through 1996. These seven awards speak to the company's attention to detail and serve as an early example of the craftsmanship that remains a foundation of the brand today.

For bridal companies, craftsmanship lives in the details. The precision of a finished edge, the placement of embellishment, the way a fabric falls, and the construction of a bodice all contribute to the finished wedding gown. Each decision matters, from the first stages of design to the final details of a gown.

From T&G Bridal to Justin Alexander

As T&G Bridal evolved, so did its place within the bridal industry. The company rebranded as Justin Alexander in 1996, marking a new chapter for a business that had already spent decades building its reputation in bridal.

The DEBI Awards continued to recognize that evolution. In 2006, Justin Alexander received the Distinctive Newcomer – Bridal award. Nine years later, the brand was honored again with the 2015 DEBI Award for Bridal Designer Collection of the Year.

Together, these accolades reflect the brand's continued evolution. What began with T&G Bridal's award-winning craftsmanship in bridal accessories grew into a bridal fashion house recognized for its design, innovation, and creative point of view.

Today, that evolution can be seen across Justin Alexander's collections, where timeless design meets modern details to create designer wedding dresses for today's bride.

A Legacy That Reaches Beyond the U.S.

The DEBI Awards are one chapter in a much larger story of industry recognition.

Over the years, Justin Alexander and its family of brands have been recognized throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, reflecting the company's growing presence within the global bridal market.

For the bridal retailers and industry professionals who have been part of that journey, these moments represent more than awards. They represent years of collaboration, trust, creativity, and a shared commitment to the bridal fashion industry.

80 Years and Still Evolving

Eight decades in bridal does not happen by standing still.

As Justin Alexander celebrates 80 years, the brand continues to look forward while remaining grounded in the values that have shaped its legacy. Craftsmanship remains at the heart of the design process. Innovation continues to push wedding dress collections forward. And integrity remains essential to how the brand builds relationships with retail partners and the brides they serve.

From the T&G Bridal headpieces recognized decades ago to the Justin Alexander wedding dresses being designed today, the thread connecting it all is clear: a commitment to thoughtful design, expert construction, and creating gowns that make brides feel confident on one of the most important days of their lives.

After 80 years, the work continues, and so does the evolution.
