From the Bride

After always hoping I’d get married one day, my husband Mike and I tied the knot on the 22nd of June in West Sussex. After our ceremony at my family church, we held our reception at the stunning Buxted Park Country House Hotel in the Ashdown Forest. From the start we wanted our wedding to be personal and intimate. We loved the beautiful countryside, and Buxted Park suited the theme and ticked all the boxes – light and classic, yet relaxed, and we’d bring the fun!

I went dress shopping almost immediately! I was far too excited to wait. I knew the style I liked and chose a few shops that stocked my slightly bohemian/boutique vision – a floaty, feminine A-line, with sheer lace and sleeves. Like many people, when it comes to shopping, I’m rather fussy so expected this to take a while...People always talk about that wow moment with wedding dresses and I’d never really understood that until I found my perfect dress at White Leaf Bridal in Brighton. It was just ‘me’. The rose lace was exquisite and the heart shape and buttons on the back were to die for. I chose a long veil and added the lace from the dress around the edge to match.

I also wore a subtle sparkly tiara (when else can you!?). The flowers from our wonderful florist at Fig & Flower with flowing eucalyptus and white and blue tones complemented the chapel train and the relaxed wedding theme.

I was so excited for Mike to see my dress, keeping it a secret had been near impossible. But when I reached the front of the aisle and Mike’s face lit up, it was all worth it and simply the best feeling. Marrying each other with all our family and friends watching was truly special. We could never have imagined how special.

The ceremony was followed by a reception full of laughter, tears of joy, and good food and wine. I kept the sleeves on the dress for our couple photos and first dance as they were so beautiful, and I’d asked our talented photographer Kelsie Scully to take some close shots of the lace. I then took them off for dancing which was a little surprise.

A month later and we are still on cloud nine re-living the best day of our lives through our wonderful photos, videos, smiles, laughs, drunken antics and our hashtag...#henningstrikesgold.

 Congrats Rebecca and Mike!
